ESACT-UK

Purpose & Vision

Purpose

The Society is headed by a group of dedicated volunteers who act as the Executive Committee and oversee the running of the Society and our annual conference. Our aims, as set out in our constitution are to promote the communication of knowledge and experience between investigators whose work has a direct or indirect bearing on cell culture biotechnology and the products derived from it.

Vision

We encourage investigators from both academia and industry focusing broadly upstream and downstream processing and analysis of all cell or cell-derived products (including but not limited to monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, cell and gene therapy) to be a part of our community. We also welcome contributions covering aspects related to the application of digital tools in bioprocessing and in particular, we want to encourage active participation of early career scientists and engineers.

Our annual scientific conference offers specific opportunities for our early career members to present short talks in a dedicated session and a range of bursary opportunities. These include partial and full bursaries to attend our annual conference and a Travel Award scheme.

Our Values

Commitment to Early Career Professionals

ESACT-UK seeks to promote the work of early career professionals across the cell culture biotechnology sector. This includes doctoral/post-doctoral researchers as well as early career industrialists. We facilitate this through provision of presentation opportunities, bursaries and travel awards.

Commitment to Scientific Excellence

As a leading society focused on cell culture biotechnology, ESACT-UK is dedicated to promoting and enabling scientific and engineering excellence to ensure the continued progression of the biotechnology sector. Our Annual Meetings bring together key sector experts to develop the field.

Commitment to Communication of Knowledge

ESACT-UK actively encourages interactions between academia, governmental and policy making agencies and the manufacturing and service industries. Our members are scientists and engineers in academic and industrial R&D and production at applied science companies and universities.

Commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

As an organisation designed to promote the UK’s cell culture biotechnology sector, we are proud that our Membership and Executive Committee are by nature composed of scientists and engineers representing different genders, ethnicities, career stages and job functions.

Commitment to Professional Conduct & Ethics

As a not-for-profit, voluntary organisation, ESACT-UK Committee members have a commitment to Professional Conduct and Ethics which drives the work we do, the meetings we organise and the scientific and engineering excellence that we promote.

Commitment to Cell Culture Biotechnology
